This will be updated when I'm capable of better thought process. As in, not at 5am. Ha.
Our werewolves stray a little (okay, maybe a lot) from the ideas in the book. So, we shall fill you in with how our werewolves work.
Lycanthropy is obtained in four different ways: saliva, genital secretions, blood contamination and through birth*. Werewolves on TTAUtNS cannot transform at will; their transformations are triggered by the full moon, and as the full moon draws near they may become irritable. Wolfsbane is used to suppress any animalistic urges. There is no cure*
There are a few different variants on the werewolf. We'll start off with the full blooded werewolves. You have the full blooded bitten werewolf, and then the full blooded born werewolf. A full blooded bitten werewolf has of course been bitten sometime during their life. They face painful transformations, aggression, potential increased sexuality, blood lust and so forth in the deadly adjective category. Full blood bitten werewolves only secrete infectious saliva when in an aggressive mood. The disease however, can always be spread through blood or genital fluids. Their saliva is always infectious during the full moon.
A born werewolf is a bit different. Obviously they've been born a werewolf, one or both of their parents being werewolves in some manner, or by having lycanthropy somewhere in their recent ancestry. Depending on how the 'pup' is raised they can be aggressive and blood thirsty just as a bitten werewolf, or in the case of proper training led by an 'alpha' they will be more 'placid' in nature. They will also gradually grow used to the painful transformations, as they'd be dealing with them since sometime soon after birth. Result of the born werewolf's personality also depends on the mindset it is taught to have.
Next we have the partial werewolf. The partial werewolf can be created in three ways: by being bitten by a full werewolf while they are in the human flesh and in an aggressive mood, having sex with a werewolf or any other contact with diluted werewolf secretion. A partial werewolf faces mild aggressiveness, mild lusts for blood or fresh meat, etc.
A partial werewolf can potentially birth a full blooded werewolf.
Finally, there is the Perma-Werewolf (we need a cooler name for this, really). Evident by the name, the Perma-Werewolf is a 'permanent' werewolf. It is a different strain than the other disease. Transformations are not brought about by the moon, but are a gradual process over a span of a few weeks after the date of contamination (which is also brought about in the aforementioned variants, though being bit is the most common). In actually the 'permanence' of this werewolf comes about that only one transformation takes place, and that's how the infected stays unless they are cured with the potion of wolfsbane at some point or killed. The inflictions of this strain are much, much more noticeable that with the other, since the infected go through a gradual change. Once fully transformed, the perma-werewolf typically takes to living in woods, hunting in neighborhoods at night taking particular interest in feasting on dogs and small children.
*Genital fluid exchange does not always guarantee infection. However, there is risk taking. Having a werewolf's baby also does not guarantee that the baby will be a werewolf.
*No, Lucian is not a cured werewolf, but a freak experiment with dark magic with harsh repercussions. No, you cannot have a character like Lucian. Sorry. We only need one.
