Has her hands in both low and high culture, and has the adaptability to flow between the two worlds without an air of pretension or crassness. However, behind closed doors she's rather emotional, and the things she claims 'don't both her' linger in her mind for days afterwards. She puts up a tough front because of her previous profession, but in the day to day she is helpful, quick to give an answer to a problem (or try to find one), and generous. Has a distrust of Ministry officials.
History: Athelstan Puck and Lacey Goodwin had met at Hogwarts, both being Gryffindors in the same year. Lacey, smitten with Ethelwulf (the Puck's being a longstanding pureblooded family in London, and thus having the charm and sophistication the girl was looking for), convinced the man that she was from a pureblooded family as well, despite the fact that her family consisted of a teaching mother and a laborer father, both Muggles.
Athelstan, not being the brightest bulb in the bunch and attracted to the seeming sweetness of the girl, married her a year after they both graduated from Hogwarts. Two years later, once he took over his father's control of the Camberwell Baths (at the back pool, hit the third brick down, and there is revealed a wizarding pool and bath house, complete with saunas and medicinal herbs and salves for sale), the couple had their first and only child. She took her father's name, as was per custom in their family, but Lacey insisted that her daughter have a more 'commonplace' name, so that the kids at Hogwarts would have no reason to tease her.
Little Freya's childhood was as normal as one would expect; her parents loved her and doted on her, living in a four-floor townhouse in the center of London close to their bathhouse. The couple attempted multiple times to have another child, but fate had it that Freya was their only offspring. This perhaps ended up for the best, because once at Hogwarts, things began to change for the sweet redhead...
Freya had been taught her family's history and was expected to know both sides like the back of her own hand. When she came to explaining the Goodwin side of her blood, the other students of pureblood origins laughed her out of the Great Hall. There was no such family! they snickered... when she confronted her father about this, he was heartbroken. He had never truthfully asked his wife if her blood status was certain, and once confronted Lacey admitted she had lied. His daughter marked as a liar and of stained lineage, his wife had been lying to him for so long about her own bloodline... Athelstan tried to be as sensitive to the issue as he could, but at the end of the day he could not fully cope, as a result of the way he had been raised to look at people like his wife and daughter. He and Lacey divorced, she kicked out back to Northumberland where she had family, and Freya quickly had to deal with a stepmother and her own children which became her step-siblings (Domnall and Alpin, twin brothers, and their mother Catriona).
The new members of her family were pleasant enough to her, but her father had given the blessing for either of the boys to succeed him in the business instead of her. Once graduating with high marks from Hogwarts, Freya went to the Ministry to work for any sort of work to pay her way out of her father's home. Working for the Magical Law Department as a temporary worker, then secretary, then an officer, she managed to pay for a flat in the north of the city. At the age of 20, she started auror training (which she considered the best way to make a name for herself in a way which she was skilled and to shed her family's name and influence over her), and by 24 she was a fully-fledged auror. On her squad, she was renown for her bravery, quick hand, and seeming lack of any sort of fear (and as a consequence, she was sent to the front of the line)...
Six months ago from the present, while carrying out a warrant on a group of faulty love-potion makers and traders of illegal amounts of dragon's blood, her squad ran into the shop vastly outnumbered (ten smugglers and dark wizards to three aurors). Two members of her squad were killed, and Freya kidnapped. She was held hostage by the men for a week and a half before being rescued and her captors caught, and she refuses to this day to speak any of what happened while she was in captivity (she was found battered and bruised with a broken ankle and wrists). She resigned from the force, with her savings bought a share in Madame Puddifoot's teashop (which had been in decline since the original owner had been getting on in years), and starting working at the relatively quiet shop (and living in the loft above it).
